TIME TO DREAM: Caprivi Experience 2023!

TIME TO DREAM: Caprivi Experience 2023!

A 10-day self drive experience in Namibia, with or without a Guide, along the big rivers of Caprivi: the Okawango River and the Kwando River with their many animals. The encounter with the culture of the Mbunza people, on the border between Namibia and Angola, will make you live an unforgettable experience. Finally, there will be a visit to the Waterberg Plateau Park, which remained practically unexplored until the beginning of the last century. The use of fully equipped 4×4 off-road vehicles for camping with a tent that can be raised on the roof and campsites surrounded by nature will allow you to savor the essence of Africa.

You will be driving your own off-road vehicle and in case of independent travellers without guide the team will consist of a minimum of 2 participants with 1 off-road vehicle and 1 rooftop tent and a maximum of 4 participants with 1 off-road vehicle and 2 rooftop tents.

In case you will need a Guide, the team will consist of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 7 participants with 2 off-road vehicles with 2 rooftop tents each, to allow everyone to enjoy this fantastic adventure in the best way possible and in full freedom.

In the ten days of the trip, you will reach the Okawango River in northern Namibia and camp along the river in the Divundu area. From here it will be possible to visit Buffalo Park (rich in elephants and, as the name suggests, buffaloes) as well as the small but interesting Mahangu Park, on the border with Botswana and anticipating the famous Okawango Delta.

You will then head your off-road vehicles east along the Caprivi Strip, to meet another large African river: the Kwando, which once entered Botswana takes the names Linyanti and then Chobe, before jumping into the Zambezi just before the Victoria Falls. Following the right bank of the river you will enter the Bwabwata National Park and camp for two nights in the beautiful riverside campsite, in order to explore this exciting park. There is no fence here and it is not uncommon for hippos and elephants to approach the place at night.

Subsequently, after a last safari in the park at dawn, you will travel the Caprivi Strip again, but to the west, to reach the Rundu area. Here you will spend the night camping along the banks of the Okawango, observing the watu (or mokoro, the wooden canoes) that reach Angola on the opposite bank. In the afternoon you can visit the local Mbunza village, a tribe belonging to the Kawango ethnic group, who will give you an in-depth overview of their traditional culture.

Afterwards you will begin the return journey to Windhoek in a southerly direction, stopping to visit the Waterberg Plateau National Park, where you will camp: in this way you will discover the wealth of fauna present in the park plateau, which remained practically unexplored until the end of the 1800s!

The next day you will finally reach the capital Windhoek, where you will spend the night in a pension / hotel. The next day, after delivering the off-road vehicles, we will say goodbye to the International Airport for the return flight.
