TIME TO DREAM: Namibia South Tour 2023!
Discovering in self drive the Kalahari between Namibia and South Africa and the Fish River Canyon, the Atlantic Ocean with Luderitz and the ghost towns of the diamond run of the last century, the Namib Desert with Sossusvlei and its giant dunes. By 4×4 to discover the boundless spaces of southern Namibia through its most beautiful tracks and to live in contact with a fascinating nature. You will be driving your camping fully equipped 4×4 off-road vehicle with rooftop tents.
The team will consist of a minimum of 2 participants (1 off-road vehicle with a rooftop tent) and a maximum of 4 participants (1 off-road vehicle with two rooftop). Particularly suitable for independent travelers who want to enjoy this fantastic adventure in complete freedom.
In the ten days of the trip, after the first night in Windhoek (in hotel), you will reach the Keetmanshoope area and camp near the Quivertree Forest: here you can take fantastic photos at sunset and sunrise inside this magical forest.
You will then drive south to reach the Fish River Canyon Park and, subject to availability, you will camp in Ai Ais, famous for its hot thermal waters that feed the large swimming pool: here you can relax after the kilometers of travel. Obviously, the next day you’ll discover the Fish River Canyon, from whose top you will have a majestic view of this extraordinary natural phenomenon.
After a nice track along the Namibian shores of the Orange River (be careful where you stop as this is a diamond zone and it is often only allowed to cross it without stops) you will go down to the Atlantic Ocean towards Luderitz. Here you will camp on Shark Island, a rugged rocky promontory on the Ocean used as a prison camp in the colonial past. Before Luderitz you will try to spot the famous wild desert horses in the area.
After visiting Kolmanskoppe (the ghost town near Luderitz remained almost intact since the time of the diamond run and now half buried by the desert) and the Diaz Peninsula with its desolate beaches between desert and ocean, you will discover another of the Namibian pearls: the red Namib Desert. With a long journey through spectacular landscapes you will reach Sesriem, in the middle of the Namib Desert where you will camp. From here it will be possible to visit Sossusvlei its breathtaking red dunes.
Finally, you will begin the return journey towards Windhoek in a north-east direction, driving through one of the most scenic and demanding passes in the country, the Spreetshoogte Pass: from the 1700 meters of its summit you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the Namib Desert almost to the Atlantic. Once you reach the capital Windhoek, you will spend the night in hotel again. The next day, after delivering the off-road vehicle, we will say goodbye to the International Airport for the return flight.
